Wizard is a band which does not need any introdoction this band which
was formed by four friends 20 years ago are still alive and kicking!!!
Wizard celebrete their 20th annivesary with the release of their 8th
album called, THOR. with this release the band proves that their
quality is still the same, they are like old wine which gets better as
its old. their metal spirit is still wild, their music is still
powerfull and melodic. in 1989 when their first release was out the
band has received many positive comments and were actually names as the
manowar of europe!!. this true metal band is back and its kickin ass!!
a few things about the album now. 11 songs(power metal songs and a good
ballad(, with great riffing, long and melodic solos, memorable chorus,
a power and classic metal tempos, with an excellent vocalist (Hail to Sven
D’Anna). the al bum was recorded and produced by Andy Horn and miz and
mastered by Achim Kohler, (primal Fear, Sinner etc). it is a conceptual
album and includes a full story booklet with a very interesting and
Epic Artwork (hail to Katja Piolka Primal Fear, Sinner, Leaves Eyes a.o.). the lyrics are also notable with its epic metal.
The story of this album begins with a great symphonic intro of the song Pounding in the light this song sets the expectations of this album and you get a feeling of what it will follow as you enter to the Utgard (False Game) song with a powerfull Riff and Tempo. the next song (Midguards Guardian) has some great melodies, the Asgard is one of the best of the album with its speed and power and also its epical Chorus,The Serpents Venom is a great Ballad which is included on my ballads list from now, the Ressurection Begins (with a bit Progressive metal on it) but again very positive. The Visitor begins is the song where Epic, Power and Symphonic Metal are blended together with a great closing!!! , the top moment of the album i where Thor and its Father discuss the Chorus is still in my mind I'm Thor, the mighty god The lord of rain and storm Now build a fire For feast it shall be warm. what you would do continues where the Visitor left over the power journey continues!!! Utgard the beginning starts with a ballad intro and it escalates to a mid tempo metal song.Followed by Stolen Hammer. The band left the Lighting for
the end, really a great way to finish a great this epic true metal
album makes you want abd beg for more, the thirst for true metal is
difficult to satisfy however this album was a good means to satisfy my
thirst for a true epic metal album!!.
i think i said enought, wizard and their album Thor deserve a special place in your record collection. Hail to Wizzard and to their Label Massacre Records. (9/10)
