PAST
In May of 2001 two heavy metal fans, Manos Koufakis and Chris Papadatos decided to create a record label named CULT METAL CLASSICS for their favourite music. The start wasn’t easy at all. You see most of their favourite bands didn’t exist!!! But they managed to gain licences from some very good bands of the 80’s and they released their rare works. The first one was from the American band VALHALLA, "Return of the Mystic Warrior", featuring the very important singer David Fefolt (ex-HAWK, MASI). The response was terrific and with a high moral they continued the excellent work with ELIXIR ("The Son of Odin"), VILLAIN ("Only time will tell"- one of the bands of the legendary singer Carl Albert), BLACK KNIGHT ("Master of disaster"). The budget became bigger and bigger, so they decided to try out releasing some new albums of contemporary bands. CULT METAL CLASSICS wasn’t anymore a label only for re-issues. The Greek power metal warriors ELWING were the first band to follow this direction. But the big surprise was the comeback, after many years of silence, of the great American guitar player Jack Starr (founder of VIRGIN STEELE, PHANTOM LORD, BURNING STARR), with an all-star band that consisted of Shmoulik Avigal (ex-RODS, PICTURE, HORIZON), Ned Meloni (ex – Joe Lynn Turner ) and Joe Hasselvander (ex-PENTAGRAM, RAVEN). The result was “Under a savage sky” CD, which was well-promoted through most major metal magazines of Europe and Japan. Following the Jack Starr’s success was the vinyl edition of the new WARLORD album “Rising out of the ashes” and BLOODSTAINED’s masterpiece “Greetings from hell”!!! CULT METAL CLASSICS succeeded in building up a strong name in the cult metal field. Until 2004 the label released 14 old, rare and new albums….

2. ELIXIR "The Son of Odin" CD (CultMetal 002)

PRESENT
…In 2004 everyone in the label realised that if they wanted to host more new bands on their roster and gain stable distribution all over the world, they should change the name of the label (after all CULT METAL CLASSICS wasn’t suitable!!) or even better to establish a new label with a reliable name. Within a few weeks and after a series of meetings, another investor was found in the name of Kostas who shares the same vision for heavy music and was decided to take over 50 % of the label. The general direction, promotion and marketing strategy of this new start was assigned to Panos Dimitropoulos, an experienced journalist and advertising director of Greece’s major monthly publication ROCK ON Magazine. More people, in the right spots, became part of this new formation. The only thing that was pending, was to find the right name for the new beginning. The “baptism” took part in our headquarters by all the members…SONIC AGE RECORDS was born. Also it was decided that CULT METAL CLASSICS will keep going as part of SONIC AGE RECORDS, only for re-mastered re-issues.
FUTURE
SONIC AGE RECORDS will be a label for all kinds of hard rock & heavy metal music, with one purpose in our minds…to create the next generation of heavy sound. Our main goal is to preserve an open-minded approach to every new tension in the metal music of our days, as well as supporting with passion the classic sound backed by a well organised network in promotion, marketing and distribution.
In order to achieve all of the above, SONIC AGE RECORDS was hosted by an experienced group of people with “fresh” ideas, willing to offer their services and assist in the establishment of a good reputation in today’s metal scene.
