A New
interview from the true metal label, Pure Steel Records. Andreas and Markus answered
our questions straightforward. You can get a feeling of the concept of PSR, furthermore
tips for demos and unsigned bands and their views on today’s metal industry
Decadence, a a very promising band which worths taking a look at. we asked them for a quick interview and the band replied positively. the intereview is with the front lady of the band the metallic kitty!!!!.
read the intereview and check their album especially if you are a thrash metal fan 1. our congratulations for the very good album you produced, can you tell us some info regarding the album.
Thank you very much! Well, even though we’ve actually made two full-length albums before ‘3rd Stage of Decay’, it still feels like it is our debut. It felt so even before we joined forces with Massacre Records who decided to re-release it now. I always felt that this album was special to us and that it would bring us something more than our previous works have. So, having it re-released now is definitely like a dream coming true for us and we are glad that it will get the real exposure we’ve always wanted it to have, and also to the whole band itself. My feeling about this album is good, I believe it is more stable than our previous works and definitely the heaviest and most technical one! This is the album that I recommend to all fans of Thrash and Death who appreciate a sound with heavy rhythms along with a touch of melody.
2. how was the recording and production?
We recorded this album two years ago. The drums and vocals where recorded in a studio in Stockholm and the guitars and bass where recorded in our own private studio. The sound turned out almost exactly the way we hoped. The mix and smaller details could of course always be improved and that’s what we strive for when working with new albums, but the sound itself on ‘3rd Stage of Decay’ is what we sought to have. We had a great time recording it and we look back at it very positively.
3. having a female vocalist do you think Is an advantage
Whether the fact that we are a female fronted band is good or not for our reputation is up to the listeners to decide but for us as a band the focus is on our music.
4. any live appearances scheduled in Greece.
Not at this time unfortunately, but since we haven’t visited Greece before it places shows there high on our list!
5. I read comments and reviews regarding the great live performances you do, what creates that feeling?
We focus a lot, if not the most, on our live performances. I read a review once, written about one of our concerts, which summarized the answer to your question quite well. Here I quote “You usually say that the music sounds better and more brutal live than on a record. In Decadence case that is definitely true. Those times I’ve heard them on an album I’ve always thought it was somewhat wimpy, too polished... something was missing. But that something is what I find when the band plays live. It is so much rawer, trashier and definitely more brutal!” – written for Plaskisfestival.wordpress.com. I think what creates that feeling is that we love being on stage and enjoying the moment and having fun without too much focus on details.
6. What is your opinions for webzines such as epicmetal.net
I think webzines have contributed very much in bringing up the Decadence name and we appreciate your and other webzines such as yours work very much. As a matter of fact, webzines been a greater help than any magazine or news paper has so far! Keep up the great work and big horns up from Decadence for it!
7. MP3, CDs, or Vinul, whats your preference?
Definitely vinyl, even cassette tapes that weren’t even there as an option! I guess I’m very old school when it comes to that!
8. What the next step in the band
Our nearest plan is to release our 4th full-length album and after that to head out on the road again!
9. Whats on the bands playlist at the moment – what albums you listen to your mp3
I discussed this with the rest of Decadence and here is our summarized list of what we listen to at the moment at least (it was hard to pick a choice out of the big load!):
Joakim (bass):
- In Flames – “A Sense Of Purpose”
- The Haunted – “Versus”
- Testament – “The Formation of Damnation”
Simon (2nd guitar):
- Circus Maximus – “The First Chapter”
- Symphony X – “Paradise Lost”
- Pain Of Salvation – “Scarsick”
10) Thanks for answering our quick Q&A session.
You are most welcome, and thank you and the readers for sharing this interview with me and I can end it by saying something that I say quite often to myself: if there’s a will, there’s a way – Metallic Kitty of Decadence.
