I was a bit
late for adding this review (Lux Aeterna) but I finally found the time to
listen to this really interesting album from the Canadian band called Gates of
Winter. The band plays Symphonic metal
with progressive metal influences and some epic metal characteristics, !!!!,
with very nice guitar riffs, and a great vocalist. Gates of winter also include
a female vocalist with backing vocals and in some cases leading the vocals.
Also the effects used in many of the
songs are very good and serve their purpose.
The
vocalist is excellent and deserves a credit for his performance, in both clean
and death vocals!! They blend the two types of vocals successfully in the
songs. Another positive of this album is its artwork. Production could have been better however for
a self finance album was satisfactory A disadvantage of them is the way the
keyboards sound, I believe the band should try and improve the sound (effect)
of the keyboards not the playing. Also my compliments to the bass player who
really kicks us!! especially on the Gates
of Winter Song which is a
masterpiece
The album
contains 9 songs including a trilogy called Burning Kingdom
which is also the highlight of this album, melodic, epic, symphonic, including
female lead vocals and a lead guitar which surprised me positively!! The other highlight of the album is the song gates of winter
Well if you
are into symphonic metal and like bands such as symphony – X and other
progressive and symphonic metal bands then you should check the Gates of Winter
and their album Lux Aeterna.I am confident that the sound, the melodies, the vocals, the
Guitars, riffs and the effects of this
album will satisfy you
Do your
selves a favor and buy the album you support a great band and you add a great
album to your collection. My only wish to the band is to quickly find a label
to help them grow and produce even more albums!! Any labels reading thei check
them out. I believe those guys can do amazing stuff with the proper label, support (8.5/10)
