Well that
was an album I really enjoyed listening to. The album Damnation of Gaia Epicus
is definitely one which deserves you attention.
The album not only is melodic but is can also be characterized as power
melodic metal and in some parts speed melodic metal (Dragonforce style). Well
played and melodic guitars and great vocalist. Also I have to mention that the
vocalist has one of the best voices I listened up to now to heavy metal.
A few
things about the band, and the album. The
album was released from Epicus records, (another
excellent true metal label). Damnation, is the 4th album of this power metal band from Norway. It
contains 9 songs, with a great production and a very interesting and excellent
cover design (painted
by J.P Fournier.). A number of guest musicians appear at this album such as Roland Grapow, Dominique Leurquin, Ola Halen, Andreas
Olsson, Michael Troy, Jonas Hörnqvist, and many more
The guitars
really know how to transmit the metal feeling to the audience with some powerful
riffs and melodic and creative solos. The influences from bands such as Avantasia - Megadeth - Gamma Ray
- Rhapsody - Helloween -
Luca Turilli Masterplan
- Iron Maiden – Stratovarius ,and of course that of the Scandinavian power metal scene, are
pretty obvious. Furthermore each song has a quite unique intro.
All the
songs are quite good, we really liked the Firestrorm.
A song with an epic metal intro, filled with power riffs and great guitar
picking. We also liked a lot The Wizards Return (instrumental).
This is a song which reveals the true musical abilities and qualities of the
band. The musicians really take excellent at this song. If you like Dragonforce
songs you will definitely like this
instrumental. The ending song Salvation is here was the best way
to end this true metal album (liked the keyboards a lot). All the songs are
excellent we just mentioned a few we liked more!
In summary.
This is a great metal album., from a true metal band and a true metal label
(Epicus records). It definitely deserves a place in your collection. So check
it out.
