Ecliptica - Impetus (8/10) - Metal Review
Immediately after I listened their EP The awakening , I was anxious and curious to listen the Ecliptica full album.  Well here it is. The album is called Impetus and includes 10 songs. I liked the album, is melodic, powerful, filled with very good guitar riffs ,  creativity and a killing bass. The album is also very commercial, easy to listen with memorable choruses. Ecliptica prove with impetus that they are here to stay and definitely the future belongs to them as long as they make sure they will take the right decisions..   As I stated earlier this album has Power and Progressive metal elements, creativity, is   melodic and passionate, is has a kick ass bass (check the song Land of Silence and Watching you) and  very good female vocalists (does chorus and backing vocals and in some of the songs she is leading.. the female vocalist brings a positive effect to the band and matches perfectly with the male vocalist and the bands music.  The album has a good production and comes with a detailed lyrics booklet   The albums starts with an acoustic guitar instrumental, which escalates end introduces the first full song the My Paradise.- a nice power metal songs with a great chorus from the female vocalist of the band – the song also has good metal guitars. The land of silence is characterized by its cool guitars and mainly from the excellent bass!!!! Again a very good song.  Carry On, the next song starts with a very dynamic guitar riff and an epical drum part – its fast, and interesting – I really liked the effect between the female and male vocalist before the chorus. – one of the higlights of the album for me. Twilight hall starts with a piano, which reminded me a pop hit of the 90s, this is a more pop – metal song. It is melodic and has a good rhythm   Turn Away is the Ballad of the album – where the two vocalists sing with only a piano,  – nice backing vocals. At the middle of the song the piano stops and a very good guitar solo enters for a few seconds, then the piano returns for the closing.Old mans memories  is one of my favorites from this album. Its opening guitar  riff is EPICAL and the guitars parts of this songs are worth listening.  Watching you  is another rsong which the bass proves its capabilities. Jester in the ball room is the song which  not only is led by the female vocalist Elisabeth  but is one of the highlights of the album – is very melodic, the guitars really rock , this song has attention to details, with some of the best guitars I ever listened. The closing song of the album  Black Swan, starts with a ballad style intro , it combines German and English lyrics, and it was the song to close a very good album like the impetus. After the 5th minute this song impressed me. I wont comment it  get the album and listen to it.   In summary I really liked the album, Ecliptica have a future in the metal scene and the Austrians should be proud for having bands such as them. The future belongs to them. My advise is to be careful and not to get any more commercial than that. As for you , do your selves a favour and buy the album and support this great band –(8/10)
