The best moments were definitely our releaseparty (played a crowd of 500 people, nearly sold out, at the PLANET MUSIC VIENNA), our live performance at WACKEN 2007 at the W.E.T. Stage, supporting SYMPHONY X at their gig in VIENNA, played at the biggest summer festival in Europe –the “Vienna Donauinsel Fest 2007”, some more support slots for bands like DEAD SOUL TRIBE, LETZTE INSTANZ…, an engagement as show band at the “Austrian Big Brother Awards 2007”…
All in all: It was an amazing first year

Biography The main roots of ECLIPTICA – basically a solo project of „Drunken Angels“ guitarist
Markus Winkler – are in the year 2003.
ECLIPTICA is a unique demo records named “The legend of King Artus” being supported
by stage acts from the Austrian underground scene (Firestorm, Vivian, Drunken Angels
…).
As the idea of ECLIPTICA as a band got to life Markus Winkler completed the line up with
Thomas Tieber (Vivian, Voc.), Roman ´El Nino´ Klomfar (TOCC, drums), Alexander
Mayer (Molokh, Bass) and Evelin Pieler (Voc.) in 2005 to get the project to a full force
band.
From the former project just the name remained the test of time. News songs as well as
a new concept had been invented to create a unique style.
At the end of 2005 the line up changed. Florian Thür (EX-Septicemia, Bass) replaced
Alexander Mayer and Bernie Scholz (Basement, git.) came in to take over the free place
of a 2nd guitarist.
Beside line up changes the recording sessions for “The Awakening” started and it took
the band to complete them till mid 2006. Orchestral parts and a very long mixing phase
forced the band to a bigger time lag.
On April 13th 2007 ECLIPTICA´s “The Awakening” has been presented to an audience of
more than 500 invited people at Planet Music Vienna.

The Music
The sound of ECLIPTICA is defined of their musical inspiration, which lies basically in the
times of classic heavy metal of the 80ies and early 90ies as well as progressive rhythmic
expressions.
The main characteristics of ECLIPTICA are Power Metal based.
Main Influences are Queen, Iron Maiden, Metallica as well as nowadays Power/Epic Metal
Bands.
Song writing is stylistically traditional mixed up with elements from all kinds of styles.
Using a male and a female voice widens the bands musical options and gives it a unique
note.
