Diphtheria the Best of The Best of Cyprus Metal – They Dererve an Intnerational Career. A few years back during  the second year of my army duties (1999) me and some friends used to spend our nights listening to heavy metal and discussing influences and the future of metal music. Also we liked listening to local band demos. I remember I brought a copy of the demo of the epic metal band of the Famagusta area Akrites (hail to the call of war and Petros and Vassos).  Another friend from Limassol said hey guys I have the tape of a very good band would you like to listen to it. We placed the tape on the cassette player. We are astonished from what we were listening. I haven’t felt like that for a long time you could actually feel the music passing through your body…A guy said hey is that iron maiden? My friend from limassol answered no,  it is Diphtheria a Cyprus band and that tape was their demo tape of 95’. Especially two songs stayed in my mind from that demo are  living to die and the majestic epical ballad “ God wanted apply here” (listen to the intro and you will get a strange feeling) Anyway i finished the army and during my university years I was trying to discover this band and I found some some mp3 which I downloaded from the internet. At the time we decided to create www.epicmetal.net I searched again for this band and I was very lucky. The band answered my email and I felt great when I realized their first album “ To Wait for Fire”.  is coming. As soon as the album was released the band posted it to epicmetal.net. The band produced an excellent metal album. With attention to  details and  an excellent production.  The album contains 10 songs (including 2 from their first 95 demo). It also includes a booklet with band photos and lyrics of the songs. By the way not only the music compositions are great but also the song writing (lyrics) which we found it to be with meaning and of course EPICAL. The album was recorded on at the city studios in Nicosia under the label Pitch Black Records.  The first 1000 copies are limited numbered cds!!  All songs are very well played, with excellent guitars, rhythm and lead and a  very good bass (as Darkest casts its veil & Ending Ceremony) and drums. When I listen to bands which use the bass and drums equally well as the guitars I praised them because they understand what is the meaning of being a band and they produce much better music, Diphtheria are one of them. The album will satisfy even the most demanding metal fan. It is melodic, it is powerful, it is epical. it includes creative compositions, excellent guitar solos , metallic riffs, and a  very powerful bass. An advantage of the band is their vocalist. Not only its voice is one of the best I have ever listened but also is has a perfect accent of English, a feature which will be of help if the band goes international!!  The album has ten excellent songs. what one can say about the Hymn called “ As Darkness Casts it Evil” a great metal son,s which I am sure it will remain unforgettable to you.  The other one is the  “Start Again”  one of the ballads of the album with interesting lyrics and guitars (includes the  Bass). I am sure that this band has influences from DIO, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden. The other highlights is the intro song “ Ending Ceremony” and the Epical “Behind Mirrors Eyes" However HAIL to the 95 demo!!  In the two songs living to die and the  God wanted (apply here)  you get a feeling of the band’s passion during their youth years. Those two songs guarantee to make you headband, and to blow up your speakers. Melodic, epical, acoustic guitars in some parts, fast metal guitar and riffs in some others, perfect choruses with female vocals on the living to die and a news commentator on the God wanted. Those two song were produced by  the band and Robert Camassa a pionner of metal in Cyprus and the producer of the number 1 metal radio show in Cyprus.  Well do you want more? Buy the album from the bands webpage – you support a great band and you will ad to your album collection a jewel in metal.  the first 1000 copies are limited edition (numbered cds) so there is an extra value on them.   Labels where the hell are you – this band can write history – give them a shot for international career   (10/10 )
