Dawn of Winter - The Peaceful Dead (7/10) heavy metal review
Doom metal of the 90s with obvious influences from candlemass,  the dawn of winter are a band which was established in 1990,  at a difficult time for heavy metal and still are in existence today 18 years after and with 10 releases ( 5 demos 3 vinuls/Ep and two albums). The  dawn of winter  are from Germany and their new release is called  the peaceful  dead this is their second full release.  This is a release for  the dedicated fans of doom metal should check.   The peaceful dead contains 10 songs with over 56 minutes of pure and raw doom metal… the doom feeling of the album truly reminds me of the 90s doom great metal bands and is a positive point that the band has kept the characteristics of that ERA to today’s music.. Doom riffs, doom atmosphere and a doom feeling.   The oath of the witch is definitely the best song of the album.. the vocalist performance on this song is excellent, the same counts for the music especially the guitars, and the overall tempo/rhythm of the song with constant changes. Also we liked the chorus effects and the backing guitars during the chorus. The guitars are tuned to sound like the 90s metal doom style impressed my and the solo of this song deserves a good attention. Wish they had more like that one!! The second best song of the album is  all the gods you worship,   starts with a very deep doom feelings and ends in a   power and fast way !!! excellent!!!     A point about  Garrit Multz  the vocalist – his voice even though may not be the perfect voice in metal, it  matches perfectly with the bands music and style giving the band and the songs an extra advantage where some other vocalist may have not.   In summary this is not a record for the masses but I m confident that doom metal fans will find it interesting. This band can produce some great doom music (such as the oath of the witch and the all the gods you worship) .   For Main Metal Fans (7/10) For Doom Metallers  (8/10)
