A great band, great music a great composer is
the least I can say about 7th reign. Their self titled album is
indeed a Power metal masterpiece. 7th reign managed to
produce a powerful and dynamic album. In the short history of www.epicmetal.net I realised that
independent bands which post their album to us are the ones who feel positive
about their albums. The majority of the independent bands who contacted us have
posted very good and excellent albums. One of those excellent albums is this
one by 7th reign. 7th reign have an interesting
history, the founders Marios
panayiotis and Brian Soulard (ex Eidolon Vocalists) were introduced by
Glen Drover (ex- Megadeth / Eidolon guitarist).
The band has added one more ex-eidolon band member Andrian to and
with Niall Mellors on Dryms recorded
the self title album “7th reign”.
The album includes 8 songs all of them composed by Marios
Panayiotis. The lyrics were written by Marios Panayiotis in most of the songs, and in some songs
lyrics were written by both Marios Panayiotis and Brian Soulard. The production of the album is
excellent and comes with a booklet containing lyrics and information for the
band.
All the 8 songs of the album are examples of pure Power
Metal composed in a way to satisfy even the most demanding power metal fan. All
the elements of power metal were used successfully by the band, the melodies,
the guitar solos and riffs, and bass, the keyboards and drums together with
some effects to.
.This classic power metal storm starts with the Til the end song followed by the
monumental Defied (one of the
highlights of the album). Defied proves
that this band has a future in the power metal scene. Believe is a slower rhythm
song which comes after the first 2 dynamic and fast songs which relaxes you
from the metal storm of the first two songs. After that, Immediately the band
returns to faster power metal rhythms with the song Dark of the Sun (another of the highlights of this album) fast, powerful with a cool guitar riff and an excellent solo. Asylum is an epical 10 minute song. Asylum shows
the capabilities of this band and also the composing abilities of Marios Panayiotis. I will not describe it,
listen to it and you will understand what I mean. the following 2 songs by way of deception and lady Babylon continue at
the same fast and dynamic pace . The album closes with another monumental,
epical power moment the instrumental executioner
7th reign produced an excellent album with many
highlights and epical and powerful elements. This band I am sure have a bright
future in the metal scene. Labels keep an eye on them, as for the rest, go buy
the album in order to support the band
but also in order to add a “jewel” of power metal to your collection
